According to a Hindustan Times report, Bangladesh’s tariff could be reduced to 18% if Bangladesh buys 14 Boeing aircraft from America.Since the India-US trade deal was finalized, Trump has announced that the tariff on Indian goods has been increased to 18%. Since this announcement, it has basically been as if the sky has fallen on Bangladesh’s head.
Bangladesh’s main goal now is to quickly conclude a Boeing aircraft deal with the United States. The United States currently imposes a 20% tariff on Bangladeshi products.
According to the Bangladeshi media outlet Daily Star, the Bangladeshi interim government’s plan to buy 14 Boeing aircraft from the United States could see the tariff increase to 18 percent if Trump wins over the country. Or it could be even lower than India’s.
But despite all this, the question remains whether Bangladesh’s tariffs will be lower than India’s.
If Dhaka buys 14 Boeing aircraft from America, it will cost 30 to 35 thousand crore .
No statement has been issued by the United States on this matter so far.
