India has imposed a tariff of up to 30 percent on American pulses. US lawmakers have written to Trump objecting to this.
India – US Tarrif:-
A report by the renowned Bengali news outlet Anandabazar.com said that US traders are facing problems due to the imposition of a tariff of up to 30 percent on Indian and American pulses from November 1, 2025.
Pulses are grown in two states in the United States. Pulses like lentils, chickpeas, and dry peas are imported to India from the United States.
27 percent of the US pulses are sold in the Indian market. Since 27 percent of pulses are sold in the Indian market, American traders place special emphasis on this pulse crop.In a letter sent to US President Trump, it has been stated that US traders are facing the impact of tariffs on high-quality pulses produced in America and sent to the Indian market.
Trump has been advised to speak to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this issue. American traders have requested that India ensure that tariffs on American pulses are reduced to some extent.
If tariffs are reduced as per this demand, then both countries, India and America, will benefit.
